I-War (Independence War) thoughts

Guys, thanks for the recent I-War help and advice.

I agree, its an excellent game - as far as I've got. I had an issue with
not all of my cannon shots registering in the game, but slowing the pc
down seems to have put that right, and it looks and plays very nicely
now on this xp system.

Glyn Williams was the author of Warhead on the Amiga, and this is very
similar in some ways and could be described as a spiritual successor to
that extremely cool game.

Anyway, double thumbs-up here. :)

Cheers.

Glad you're enjoying it. :)

I never did get around to playing I-War 2 afterwards, but
maybe I should track it down. I wonder how it compares.

I thought it looked really nice. I didn't get the chance to get deeply
into it as I didn't have full access to a pc at the time, but I kept a
copy of the game, and bought the original I-War when I saw ir, just
based on my brief experiences with Edge of Chaos.

My guess is if you liked I-War, you'll like the sequel too, and I think
you have more freedom to roam, and to pick and choose your line of work
than in the original which I gather is entirely core mission based.

Both Independence War games are great and for them being roughly 10
years old they still hold up nicely. You can get these games very
cheap now and you can find info/patches/mods at these sites.

And as somebody here mentioned (thanks!) there's a patched up and more
stable version of I-War available as a download from Gog.com for 5 of
your Earth dollars.

I had a small issue with the mouse movement but that was easily fixed.
I'm close to the end of the game now, I think, and it it has just
continued to be excellent, albeit with the odd "too powerful a pc"
issue.

I'm looking forward to giving the sequel a proper go.
