to run OK so far.

How is it? Went and had a look at their website and it didn't quite sell the
game to me.

I think it's a fun game, not the greatest in the world, but probably worth
the $30. It runs well on my rig with all detail maxed (tho' I'm having a
problem right now with a framerate loss when I'm in FPS mode inside my
ship...only place it happens, very strange).

Here's a link to an Octopus Overlord thread which contain a fairly long
review of it by me (Corvus Corax). The review's about halfway down the
thread:

http://www.octopusoverlords.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=50463

A movie trailer is also available for download at:

http://files.filefront.com/Parkan+II+E3+2005+Movie+Trailer/;3873498;/fileinfo.html

You know, I really fanboyed the hell out of the first Parkan back in 1999
(google group search "DocScorpio and Parkan" to see what I mean). Several
peeps bought it on my recommendation and some were none too happy with it.
For that reason, I'm trying to be a bit more restrained this time around,
but don't know if I'm succeeding. :)

Anyway, if you have any doubts, don't buy it. I may just have a
psychological fixation on it or something. ;)

Thanks for the link, just read your mini review (well written). I'm
currently playing X3, G3, Oblivion, Titan Quest: IT, AND Company of
Heroes... I might wait till I've finished at least one of them before
picking up another game, but I've added it to my list :) Two Worlds is my
next confirmed buy, but we'll see.

Simplistic, but looks like it would be fun for those in between moments.

You know, I think I actually remember :)

I rather liked the original Parkan myself, although the last mission left me
puzzled. I never was quite sure what I was supposed to do there; either that
or the ending somehow didn't make sense.

I just got it myself. It looks very promising but I seem to have "issues"
with the graphics. In 3D cutscenes, such as on the games title screen, with
the camera swooping past the space ship, I see white flashes, like white
"beams" appearing and disappearing. This also happens at several points
during the intro.

My video card is a ATI Radeon X1650XT, BTW. I haven't had any issues with
other games so far.

Any ideas? All suggestions are appreciated.

Check out the backstory in the manual. It provides some kind of explanation
for what happened in the first game.

I don't have that problem; my problem is a steadily increasing slowdown.
The game is interacting with something on my system, that's for sure.
Trying to troubleshoot it atm.

I don't know where you can get tech support. The English tech-support forum
is pretty much dead (are you Amon999, a Belgian who posted with the same
problem there?). I haven't found any tech support yet for this game from
Paradox or Gamersgate.

Rusya, who was/is a Russian tech forum moderator, shows up on the English
general forum fairly regularly. He might be able to help.

Yes, I registered there as Amon999. There doesn't seem to be a lot of
activity on that forum though, so I'm not holding my breath. :-(

I hope so.

Thanks, I'll do that!

Well, I got one reply so far, from a person who seems to have the same
problem on his/her system. Also with an ATI card. I'm starting to have this
sneaking suspicion the game doesn't like ATI cards all too well.

Fantastic! Some name Malfeas posted a fix for the problem!

Here goes: "If you have the gamersgate version, Go to your parkan 2
installation directory, find the start.exe, and click it, this should start
the launchpad program, click options and de-select PSGP (processor specific
graphics pipeline) and that should fix it!"

Yes!!! :-)

My typing skills went right out the window there; I meant to type: "Someone
name Malfeas..."
