So I'm up to about 31 million in the game and I was thinking of getting a TL. It was going to be the argon Mammoth. Then I checked the specs on the Split Elephant. The Mammoth turns faster and has 60,000 meters of cargo space compared to 34,000 for the elephant. Other than that the Elephant seems better in every way. Even the smaller cargo hold is offset by being able to carry 9 more ships than the mammoth. Assuming you loaded both up with fully expanded Mercury Super Freighters you'd be able to carry 199,200 meters in an Elephant compared to 119,000 meters in a Mammoth. The elephant is also almost 11 million credits cheaper. That would buy me 8.5 of those super freighters. Is there something I'm not seeing that makes the Mammoth suck less? Are there some stations that won't fit in the 34,000 meters of the Elephant? Or are argon ships for suckers that dont' know any better? Remove nospam_ to reply by email Jeff H........

Are you sure you can fit TS's into a TL? I remember a long time ago when X3 came out that it wasn't an option. Ceo-

Since the description says that a TL is too big to dock with stations and that you need to use smaller ships to ferry your cargo I assumed that you'd be using TS's and that they could dock with the TL. A cargo ship too big to dock with anything but a shipyard and unable to carry smaller cargo ships seems sort of pointless. Anyone know for sure? Remove nospam_ to reply by email Jeff H........

Yep I think I remember it being a point of contention with many fans. Even though I own the game I'm still waiting to play it on a powerful enough rig so I can't comment any further. Head to www.egosoft.com and post on the forums. You'll get a rapid response, their heavily trafficked. Very possible my memory is up the duffer :) Ceo-

Yeah, they don't go. It's a PITA 'cos you need to faff around using the cargo transporter (Not a ship class: think ST: "Beam me up, Scottie" type of thing) to xfer goodies between TS/TLs. There some 3rd-party TLs that'll take TS's, but that's a bit beside the point.

I remember a long time ago when X3 >came out that it wasn't an option. There is a mod IIRC called DockTS that will let you do it. Just make sure you aren't in the TS when you do as you end up in limbo! ;-)
