Starshatter - opinions?

G'day folks,

I've been offered a cheap 2nd-hand copy of Starshatter (original) and
I'm wondering if 'tis worth buying.

I DL'ed the demo back when first released and all I can really remember
of it is that it gave me enough problems that 'twas del'd the same
night. I didn't get deep enough into it to form an opinion on the game
play... hell, I can't really remember it!

There've been several patches since, so assuming the bugs have been
ironed out, what's the general consensus?

Sorry, I was misled. Just saw the copy and it's labelled in texta.
hardly an original... :(

Wow, I totally missed this game. Did it ever reach Europe? I have the X
series and the Homeworld series, but today is the first I've heard of
Starshatter. I notice there's an expansion/upgrade too, called
Gathering Storm (isn't that a HoMM title??).

Anyway, what's it like? Is it worth buying for those starved of
space-sim fun? My rig is too old to run Darkstar One so I've not found
a decent space sim since Freelancer ... (ok ok apart from X2 & X3 ...)

After making my orig. post I decided to retry the demo. Only to find
it's NOT the game I was first thinking of [blush] (what that was called,
I have /no/ idea!) but the demo has been fun.

Every flight has ended up in disaster so far... it's definitely not a
freelancer clone, but 'tis fun enough that I keep going back to try and
do it right. I'm gonna RTB succesfully once or die trying! ;)

I see that the full game is available via download, so I guess the CD I
was first offered may very well be an "original." I'm still dubious
about buying from that bloke though, for a variety of reasons, but I can
see Starshatter being added to my game collection soon, soon...

Glad to hear you like it. Starshatter is essentially a one man
operation and Milo does a fantastic job with it. If you have any
questions about the game, he is more than willing to help.

I really disliked it. I bought it, disliked it, and sold it off in
about a week. To be fair, lots of other people on the list liked it.
