EVE online : Thinking of going back

I stopped playing EVE about a year ago. Now that they've done another
expansion to the game I'm thinking about re-activating my account for
another month or 2.

I'm curious what current players think of the game since the new
patch.
Do all of the advertised features work properly?

How's lag these days? I used to hang around in lower security systems
at the edges of empire space and had fairly lag free play in systems
with 20 to 30 people in them.

Are drones any smarter? Last time I played I my drone skills were
maxed, but I never used them since they'd always try and aggro every
NPC in the solar system.

I hear HP has been increased on all ships. This sounds like a good
change to make battles last a bit longer. Does this apply to NPC's as
well? I remember doing cosmos complex's in a small gang and the
respawn rate was so high that there were some spots that we couldn't
kill them fast enough to clear the level. If they made all the NPC's
tougher I can see that being an issue on more complex's as well.

Speaking of complex's, have they changed the rewards/difficulty much?
I remember 3/10's being permacamped since you could easily solo them
in an assault frigate for up to 100 mil worth of loot and bounties
while 4/10's would take 3 or 4 BC's and were only worth maybe 10 mil
in loot and bounties. Never bothered with 5/10's or up since I'd
always heard that they were WAY more difficult than 4/10's even with a
decent gang and they were in much lower sec space.

Thanks in advance for any info.

As always , after a patch , there are some issues , but if you check the
"known issues" page on the website you'll notice it's shorter than in past
upgrades.
Major changes:
Warp to 0km feature , no more instas then . Gatecampers had to rethink
strategies , but the db now is thinner and the server seems working faster.
New gang system , with more sublevels , gang bonuses are now given by the
leader alone , not by any gang member.New gang skills added consequently.
No more escrow changed in a contract system. Some good stuff like auction
added , but it's now more expensive using it since you don't pay a fixed
tax, but it's proportional to the value of the item you're selling. I don't
really like this but have to look at it better.
Salvaging. When a ship pops , doesn't leave a can but a wreck .You can loot
it and if you got new skills (you need Mechanic III and Survey III) you can
collect them and use them to make ship rigs.
Every ship has now 3 rig slots.Rigs are like implants for a ship , once
plugged can't be changed unless you wanna destroy em , and give more bonuses
to a ship . This is going to make ship fitting even less predictable.

The deletion of millions of bookmarks improved the performance of TQ , but
if you go to jita expect some lag.Still no large fleet battles occurred , so
I can't tell you if this is working as expected or not .

Drones are still stupid , a bit less tbh , but still morons.

It applies only to player ships , no changes to npc . Ratting/missions are
now easier .Pvp lasts way more since also the capacitor has been enlarged .

I gave up doing plexes time ago , because of permacamps . Never managed
getting more than 6-7 M out of a 3/10 (where the hell is THAT complex ?!?!?)
CCP introduced a new exploration system , probably to fix the plex-camping
problem. There are now hidden spots inside solar systems , you have to find
em through scanning . Hidden spawns , hidden plexes as well as new belts for
miners and new "something" for producers/industrialists . I still gotta work
on this thing , they are said to carry some interesting reward.

Have fun

Well, at least some of the missions have been tweaked to make them
harder again. Last time I did Level 3 Score it was waves of frigates and
cruisers, now it is waves of BCs. But the other change to missions comes
from the changes to the scanning process. It's now much easier to find a
ship which is running a mission, so pirates are waiting in low sec
systems, scanning a mission runner and then jumping in on him. Hasn't
happened to me but it did to a corp mate. It makes low sec mission
running more tense - I have done several without being hit, but you do
have to watch local, more like ratting or mining in low sec. Although I
ran a lot of low sec missions, I have to admit that this change is a
good one - there was really very little risk before, especially if you
had instas.

Mhhh , tasty . I moved to Cloud Ring and gave a pause to my missioneer
career . Now I want a Ferox in 0.4 empire . I like being ganked , local gets
hilarious .
