I was playing eve and told some peeps before I logged off that it would
take 51 days to skill Battle Cruiser to 5. Am I missing something,
sorry but what should I be learning first in systematic order to reduce
this time. I'm in no hurry don't get me wrong I like the game but it
would be nice to be efficient.

Your attributes decide your learning time. So training up the learning
skills + the advanced ones (Not the skill learning, but the ones that up
your attributes found in the learning skills branch).

With the Relevations extension being patched today, the requirements for the
advanced learning skills is dropped one notch to just require the regular
ones at level 4. So train the basics to level 4, then the advanced to 3-4
and then do the basics to 5. Then carry on with the advanced if you want
after. Top it off by do the skill called "Learning" as its more usefull the
higher attributes you got and the attribute skills shave off more time than
that one so always do it last.

Most gunnery, ships and command skills make use of perception and willpower
attributes. However the attribute learning skills (the basic ones), use
memory and intelligence as primary and secondary attributes, so for a faster
training, do memory and intelligence first, then perception and willpower.
When that is done, you need to check the info tab on the advanced attribute
skills what they make use of as primary and secondary attributes to decide
what order makes most sense to train them for.

Also if you can afford it plug in some cheap +3 implants to give your
training time a slight boost.

For me it currently would take around 30ish days to do Battle Cruiser to 5.
This with the basic attribute skills at 5, the advanced to 4 and the
learning to 5, and some +4 implants. If you want to play EVE for a long time
then doing the learning skills will pay off eventhough a slight boring in
the start where you might rather want other skills to make you better at do
other things.

One, get EVEMON.exe, it will help you to know what skills you
need to do stuff, as well as what skills you should have to learn what
you want in less time.

You can fine it here: http://evemon.battleclinic.com/

You should also have your basic learning skills up to
4 as some one else suggested.

All good advice. I would also say that if you are a new starter, looking
at going straight for Battlecruiser is probably not a good idea. As well
as flying the ship, you really need a lot of other skills to fit weapons
and other modules appropriate to the ship - otherwise you just have an
expensive target drone. I would recommend training up a few skills to
give you the ability to fly and fight in frigates, then get some
experience in those while you train up the learning skills as suggested
below. By the time you are ready to train "real" skills much faster, you
will also have a better idea of what skills you need to make you an
effective pilot in whatever line of development really interests you.
