There is a new ground combat game demo called Heavy Steel available for download at http://www.battlephase.com/beta/heavysteel_beta.zip Some screen shots are at http://www.battlephase.com/screenshots/heavysteel/ Heavy Steel is a turn-based strategy game set in 23rd century Earth. Take command of over 50 units, including: tanks, infantry, helicopters and more. Battle over jungles, forests, post-apocalyptic wastelands, and other planets. Or even use the Heavy Steel Map Builder to create your own maps, hex by hex! Heavy Steel Limited Beta comes with: * Campaign mode with 15 different missions! * Multiplayer to battle your friend over the internet. * Skirmish Mode, set the map and points, and play against the AI or another person. * An in-depth tutorial to teach you the controls of Heavy Steel. * The Heavy Steel Map Builder; which allows you to create your own hex maps. There is also a map editor that allows you to create you own maps for Europe, Pacific islands, wasteland, Moon, Mars, the ice planet Hoth. There is a wide variety of units to fight with/against from conventional tanks, infantry, helos. You have marines with their drop ships (which can carry an APC with infantry) and their heavy drop ships which can transport heavier vehicles such as SP arty and tanks. Some nations use walker (think Mech) combat units and warbots. All nations have cyber tanks (think the Bolos from scifi literature).
