i got the real games stowed away, they never worked on any machine i owned
out of the box. i might give them another shot now that Steam are giving out
patches.

Check egosofts forums first. I think you would need to purchase again 
through steam to try this though.

Now if they would allow me to register my retail version through steam I 
would install it again.
