A friend of mine told me recently that the original ideas for "Cloaking
Devices" came from a Doctor Derek Smart who used to run this news
group. Does anyone know how he can be contacted as I would love to know
if the ideas here

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4968338.stm
('Cloaking device' idea proposed)

clash with his original inventions.

A better question would be who's more credible: Dewey or the BBC?

Well, it's about time you checked back in. I've dearly missed the way you
whistle at inappropriate moments.

Is your BattleCroozer site still up? I've misplaced the link.

Anyway, the Beeb article indicates that scientists hope to be able to cloak
particles of dust. Imagine the possibilities: instead of wasting your time
dusting the shelves, you simply cloak the dust. It's only a matter of time
before science will allow us to cloak cobwebs, lint, and disaffected
offspring.

You mis-spelled "are".

I'm afraid the good Doktor disappeared from our scanners ages ago. It
appears his cloaking device works far better than anyone expected.

Actually, there is a pretty cool show on the History channel called
"Alien Engineering". It talks about how modern technology could
produce an "alien" craft. Basically, it looks at fields such as
anti-gravity fields, lasers, shielding and cloaking devices among
other stuff. Pretty cool stuff.
