I never did fancy his games, or this whole Derek thing. However I clicked 
the url and went to the forum to see just out of curiousity. And well.... It 
seems his customer service department is non lacking, along with his people 
skills.

You dont call potentional customers, or customers as whole for stupid idiots 
just for question how you do things. Someone should give him a crash course 
in how to do business or something.

What he really needs is a crash course in "getting over himself" and a
major (and I do mean major) attitude adjustment.  I've been surfing the
net for about 13 years and I've never seen *anyone* as narcisistic and
full of himself (without any good reason to be), anywhere.  The man
is a certified loon.

Its sad how he treats his customers. If he only understood that if no one 
buys his crap he is out of the job. His game has potential but if he dont 
get off his high horse and listen to people then the most he can ever expect 
is to meet his expenses never exceed them. I remeber years ago reading about 
the orginal battlecruiser 3000 back in Comptuer gaming world. sounded 
awsome.. then it was released what garbage.. Now here he is Universal 
combat. Good ideas but someone brings up an idea he didnt think of he gets 
mad and bans them from the planet battle cruiser 3000.

You can still find copies of his software every now and again. But as you say
it is not worth peoples while to crack yet they still do occasionally.  When a
new release comes out I will download it, install it, and promptly un-install
shortly afterwards when I realise that once again it is the same game with a
few features tacked on.

I also liked that he will remove the product activation to about 6 months or
so, but that still wont make me buy the game as it's not one that is of
interest to me.
I wouldn't have a problem with "product activation" if all publishers
guarenteed to issue patches removing it after a certain amount of time. That
way I would know that I wouldn't be stuck with a coaster if they went belly
up.

Saddly his games go belly up in 6 months casue he wnats to tempt everyone 
wtih a new pile of crap he calls a product.

Haha!  Right after that I sent him an email saying why didnt he call me a 
do-do head while he was at it! :)
Do yourself a favor and ask every EB storeperson you see about poor 
misunderstood Derek and his games that us poor idiots just dont understand. 
They know him just like we do.

You obviously don't know Derek.
First of all Derek has already thought of everything.
 Second, he also has it coded into every game he has made or will
make. However he may have the feature turned off for any number of
reasons, but generally its off because Derek likes writing code that
will never run. Then he will type out a 10,000 word rant claiming he
is God and the poster is stupid

And then he bans them.

You do if you want to. 
After all, what is making money for if not to do what you want? Not the 
direction many would go. They would be real nice to customers. Living with 
the stress until they can afford to turn off ALL the connections and never 
speak to them again. But in the same post Derek seems to say that he is 
making enough to not put up with that and that seems to be the considered 
choice he is making.
