There are also RTS ground missions, text-based quests and arcade-style fights inside black holes. Random generated universe each game, 5 races, 5 occupations (whatever you do a lot of causes your occupation to change after the initial choice), experience points to distribute for character development, a ranking ladder to show how you're doing against all the npc rangers, dynamic trade economy (alas, you can't find that "perfect trade route" and milk it to death to get rich), hirable wingmen, lots of different ships and great equipment for upgrading, etc., etc. Yes, lots of stuff....yes, I'm a fanboy. :) Protected by Starforce, if you have a problem with that. Check out the Octopus Overlords SR2 threads for more info.

I quit playing Dungeon Siege II to play Space Rangers II, thanks to a tip in the Strategic newsgroup. Most excellent game! I like the way you can configure ships with different weapons and other equipment and upgrade the same, by visiting randomly placed Research Bases. A lot of this equipment comes in the from of drops from defeated enemy ships. Another writer mentioned that you can hire wingmen. Pricey, IMHO. Better than that is the robot fighter drops. Yep. Random drops will sometimes yield a giant robot that you can carry aboard your ship and deploy in space as a fighter! And its FREE! Get this game. You won't be sorry! Be sure to get the DVD version which includes Space Rangers 1!! If so, where? I believe it's DVD only, at least the English version . I know nothing about the original Russian version. I got my copy from GoGamer. I believe it's availability in the states is limited. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. The Australian version comes on 2 CDs. Unfortunately, there is no sign of the first game in this package. However, it seems that SR2 is just an updated version of SR1.

I have been playing the game for about 20 hours now and am still no where near finishing! Still a lot of fun.
