No, that's called "influencing a country". The USA never does anything
unless it suits their own agenda.

You're also a pretty stupid one.

Well of course it is! Canada is above, Mexico is below, Asia is to the
left, and Europe to the right. That puts the US right in the center, don't
it?

Oh, come now. Just whom do you suppose contributed "Dynasty" and "Dukes of
Hazard" to your cultural milieu?

In lieu of our contribution, you may forgo the applause and just send us
the cash Britain still owes foamy Jim from WW2.

Are you seriously threatening the entire rest of the world?

But seriously, you need help.

Nope, but 2 weeks ago I saw an impressive replica of the "General Lee"

The TV show was brilliant. Totally mindless; so much so in fact you
could feel your brain cells atrophying while you watched it. And the
slowest car chases you've ever seen. Even Br d would have been able
to catch the general in his old banger.

Gosh I'm so glad this thread got started, now we can finally resolve
all these issues.

Hey Bret you Yank Fag Dork Wang, you in the good ol' U of K?
Stevenage? Where the fuck is Stevenage? If you're still around on the
17th of this month myself and the Rodent will be dining in the Milton
Keynes area and partaking of a couple of jars. Fancy it?
I know Lemming will be there but apart from that it will be a good
evening.

Yeah, and even better, Br d has promised not to do any burgling on the
way home.

Well certainly not at your home, you've got fuck all worth filching.
Just booked that room, it's got 2 beds in case you're too pissed to
get home.
After all these years, me and Lemming are finally getting a room.

I thought you didn't love me any more.

Actually, early on in the planning stage I had hopes of getting a chance to
drop in on you (and also br d, until he admitted that Billie Piper would
not in fact be on the menu). Unfortunately, our trip to the UK was
slightly abbreviated and our time very full with family visits. For
example, immediately upon arrival at Gatwick my mother- and father-in-law
whisked us off to this really great WWII theme park you have over there
called "Normandie". It wasn't as authentic as I would have liked (for
example, my suspension of disbelief was challenged every time the Overlord
landings were referred to as "J-Day" instead of "D-Day"), but overall they
put on a pretty good show. They also had this offbeat exhibit called the
"Bayeux Tapestry" that was just a load of nonsense about these "Harold" and
"Guillaume" characters. I exchanged some rather harsh words with the
proprietor, and in the end he was forced to admit that it had nothing
whatever to do with WWII. What sort of schmuck do they take me for?

> Did you call when I was out?

Oh, was that your house? You really shouldn't leave your door unlocked.
Anyway, I only helped myself to some biscuits, some loose change I found
under the chair cushions and the watch on the bedside table.

I was afraid of that. Still, I sure hope I find it before the Canadians
do.

I'm not really sure, but they have a McDonald's and a Cinema with a replica
of the "General Lee" out front. Does that help?

Sounds like a good time -- I'm sorry I'll miss it. Anyway, we'll be back
in 2 years or so, if not sooner. Until then, you may wish to keep your
doors locked anyway.

Oh yes I've got it now!
Was it the real General Lee or just a tapestry of the General Lee with
Daisy spread on the bonnet?. I think even a tapestry of Daisy Duke
spread on the bonnet would do it for me. In fact, even thinking about
a tapestry of Daisy Duke spread on the bonnet just did it for me.

Hmmm, I'm almost certain the evening will be over by then. Until next
time then. I'm afraid visiting the USA is out of the question for me,
my trousers aren't loud enough.

Good advice, I'll climb out of the window.
Was a pity we didn't manage a meet and greet.

Much to my shame I have never visited the WWII stuff at Normandy or in
Belgium. Something I must definitely do before I shuffle off.

the UK. For example, they know how to speak English in Europe.

He's just bought himself a second-hand Skoda. He was whinging though
about it having a scratch on the windscreen, and replacing it was
going to cost more than the car was worth. I suggested filling it
with petrol before he took it in, as that would more than likely
double it's value.

Recalling his posts regarding the handling of prisoners at Gitmo, I'm
pretty sure does. However, IIRC he made me an honorary Canadian so I
esteem him nonetheless.

Nope, no Daisy Duke, no bonnet, no spreading, no Billie Piper. Just
General Lee and McDonald's.

Indeed.

Yeah, but there's tons of cool stuff to see without ever leaving the UK.
For example, if you like historical airplanes (including warbirds from
WWII) the Imperial War Museum at Duxford is hard to beat. It also happens
to be free after 4:30pm, but there is far too much to see before it closes
at 6.

McDonalds? I never go in one, unless Lemming takes me.

Billie Piper and Daisy Duke........

Yeah Duxford is great. Went to the big airshow there a couple of years
back where they fly all the WWII stuff, it was a fantastic day. The
feel of 8 Spitfires roaring overhead is a very unique experience.
Unfortunately, just as we were leaving one of the planes (dammit I
can't recall the name, Firefly maybe..) crashed in full view of us,
killing the two blokes instantly, the pilots families were amongst the
crowd, it was pretty awful. These guys know the risks apparently and
are very happy to take them to get the planes back in the air. Brave
men and women.

I recently went to Bruntingthorpe near Leicester to watch a friend
doing one of those Ferrari track days. There was a bunch of
enthusiasts on the grounds there who were renovating a Lightning, got
chatting to one of them. I'm a lover of nice cars (hence the Skoda)
but talking specifications with this bloke just blew me away. The
Lightning used 3 gallons of fuel a second, has - wait for it - 60,000
bhp!!! (equivalent), and on 5 tons of fuel could only stay airborne
for half an hour. 40 minutes if the pilot was 'taking it easy'.

Apologies for digressing.

That's nothing. An SR-71 needs refueling shortly after takeoff. It outputs
160,000 bhp and maxes out at 2193.167 mph @ 85,068.997 ft. Where's a ZPM when
you need it? =P

Yeah well that's pretty impressive I spose, but don't forget the
Lightning came into service in the 50's.

I actually know nothing about aircraft (which is unusual, because I'm
a complete expert on absolutely everything else) but my Brother-in-Law
is ex Air force and a real brain on it all. I like to draw outlines of
planes I've seen and show him them, he normally gets it in about .1 of
a second.

It can be very quiet around here sometimes.
