Shamelessly stolen from alt.fan.elite (whom which I have haunted since its
creation as a modelling agency group :p) is this link:

http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=search&searchtype=PC&searchstring=Elite+IV&page=search&Go.x=19&Go.y=12#review

And yes, play.com are offering to sell you Elite IV: The Next Encounter for
a low low price of 34.99 pound! (cause I can't find the Stirling key :D).

What do you lot think? The Next Encounter seems like a legit name, and the
"due for release" date is set to 29/09/06.

Almost enough to stir up another glimmer of hope/joy/depression or what?

It's more likely to be a guess. It does make some kind of sense, but I
still think that they're likely go for a completely new name. I can
see a publisher insisting on having Elite in the title because there's
still a lot of brand recognition, but having anything referring to FFE
might not be such a good idea.

Hell, there's a surprisingly large number of people who mistakenly think that
Frontier (FE2) was buggy, when it was actually pretty much bullet-proof.

My money's on 'Duke Nukem in Spaaaaaaaaaaaace!'

TBH, I think 2007 is more likely. As for the month of release, I'd
really love to see them put it out in one of the traditionally 'dead'
months (April, June or July) where not much else comes out. They could
clean up.

If they chose one of the busy times like the run up to Christmas, then
they'd be running the risk of getting swamped by all of the other games
coming out. I've never understood the industry's habit of releasing
everything at the same time.

Play have been known to take SWAGs [1] at release dates for forthcoming
games before.

Notes:-

1. SWAG = Simply a Wild-Ass Guess.

Yes play.com is full of shit. If you'd haunted a.f.e a bit better you would
have found the responese to that post where people said it was not true and
play.com was just being stupid.
