My advice to anyone thinking about Ares >Rising is to save your time and download the Descent Freespace demo instead. > >-Krud I have to agree with Krud. I did the download 'cause 16MB is nothing with a cable modem (eat yer heart out Krud!). I only check out the 'competition' to see how much of the 'same ol' stuff' continues to exist when my BC3K franchise continues to push the limits of strategy and other aspects of the genre (shameless plug). Man, Krud, you have _got_ to see my stuff now. If you're ask nicely <g>, I'll send you a patch that'll blow your mind - guaranteed! At any rate, meet the 'competition'. So far, I like Freespace a lot but is only worthy competition because it's in the same genre. Ares Rising no longer counts. Makes me think of Renegade and Star Rangers which lends credence to what you said about it being good 2 years ago. I'm not too excited about Independence War because I already have I-War and I don't think the 3Dfx patch won't make a difference to people who have already played it.
