Track IR tracks the motion of your head... There is a sending and receiving
unit that sits on the monitor (actually, you can put it almost anywhere in
front or behind and adjust the sofware accordingly) Depending on which unit
you get, you either have a small reflective dot that you place on a ball cap
or similar, or else a small metallic set of three reflectors. The sending
unit sends an infrared signal which bounces off the dots and back to the
receiving unit. As you turn your head, the dots shift and the view on your
screen shifts (the screen shifts more than your head moves... It's very easy
to move your head and keep your eyes on the screen). If you get teh better
setup with the three reflectors, as you move forward or back, the view zooms
in and out. If you move (not turn) your head to the left, the viewpoint
shifts to the left, etc. You can actually look out the window and down at
the ground, or look around the pedestal to see the runway better. Again,
because you're using your head in teh same movements you would use in real
life (just to a lesser degree) it is very, very intuitive. I cannot
recommend it strongly enough.
