Yes they do : all the time.

Totally different punches : tend to be short and "grapple" type pokes in
that awful ultimate fighting.

Hard punches to the jaw, to the temple and the top of the head
can and do knock people out cold. Watch a few boxing matches. But I do
agree with you that some spindly girl is not going to be doing that to a
big hulking guy.

ps I think ultimate fighting is fixed.
