I never had a problem cutting the webs with my sword. Maybe one must have
an enchanted sword or weapon. 
Is your first character equipped with a blunt (?) weapon ?

You will need the vials after the webs.

	That's wierd.  Even when I screwed up the first time and got
myself captured, losing everthing including my Belts o' Strength, my 
chars were able to rip through the webs fairly easily.  All they had
were a broom, a wand, several daggers (heavy and normal) a mornigstar for
the orc and a Skraje(sp?) for my Dwarf.  It might be their strength...I
had 3 characters with a natural strength of 15.
	BTW, there really isn't anything good in there.  You can get killed
by rock falls, spiders, spiders, and more spiders, and find a sword which
I am pretty sure is cursed.

Don't know... I have not gotten far enough (even if I have already cleared
Phex' temple).  Perhaps it has to do with the shapeshifter you find in the
Blood Peaks?

It's not strength, it's just the right weapon.
You just need an axe. Not sure if any other weapon will do, swords etc.
won't.   :)
I noticed, after my dwarf broke his axe, fighting those spiders, i had to
go back, get a new one.

- I/m not playing this but maybe the broom sweeps the webs away.
