CD connection question

I'm not sure if this is a stupid question or not?
I just bought Dark Sun II CD version and I'm trying
to play the music off the CD and the sound effects
through my Soundblaster 8 bit card. I've got the line
connecting the output of CD ROM drive connected to the
line in on Soundblaster but I don't get any of the music
out of the CD drive. Do I need to a TSR running to
process the music of the CD? Or do I need to just buy
a Y cable and have output of CD and output of soundblaster
combined into my speakers?
Any info is greatly appreciated.

OOOPS!!!! I understand the Soundblaster has only one ADC, (analog
to digital converter,) and can't process digital music from a CD.
Quoting from page 31 of The Sound Blaster Book, "The Sound Blaster
cannot transmit and receive data at the same time through its MIDI
interface. It can only transmit or receive data, unlike the Sound
Blaster Pro, which can do both at once." Yer screwed, get a new card.
