This sure is a pain in the ass compared to the old usenet style. Morons! I'm still playing with the "steam" version of G3, and it's not all bad. I have paladin armor, Ancestor Sword, Helmet, strength 400, hit points 500, endurance about 360 .. and I still can't beat 4 scavengers at the same time. I remember this version when Jowood did it. They took the sword entirely out of the game, and almost every quest has to be done with the bow from a safe perch. Still, I'm enjoying it like always. johns

I have to dump text in an external editor, add quote symbols, do my reply there and dump it back in to the reply if it's more than a few lines, or it comes out all f'd up. Still less trouble than getting a 'real newsreader' and sub to usenet though. - Justisaur.

Using a web browser for usenet is far less convenient than a newsreader. The fact that you have to jump through the hoops you just described, even if only occasionally, is proof of that. I believe they still have free usenet servers (eternal september, etc) if paying is a concern?

Yeah. Many choices. Thunderbird is dead simple for email and news. Cheap usenet is all over, with excellent retention, and there's no reason to pay by the month... eg. Astraweb has $10 for 25 GB which will last a couple of lifetimes of usenet text. -mb
