U7 freezing on me. HELP!

A little problem occurred with my copy of Ultima 7. I recently bought the
entire Ultima VII package on CD (includes Black Gate, Serpent Isle and the
add-ons on one CD-ROM). The version # is 3.4 (when pressing 'v' in the game).

The problem is when I go to sleep. It freezes up, all the while playing the
soft music in the background. I'm pretty sure it is because the dream
sequence is supposed to pop up at this point (the one where the Guardian
visits you for the first time in your dreams). I have just begun the game so
I haven't gotten really far. I've slept about 2 times before it crashed and
the Avatar woke up with no interruptions in his sleep.

Was wondering if it could be my SB16 settings. Here's my config:

DX266
VLB Cirrus Logic video card
SB16 (220h, INT 5, DMA 1)
no CD-ROM drivers loaded.

Using HIMEM.SYS to load DOS high and used LH to load my mouse driver high.
No disk cache loaded. And how would I go about loading a disk cache and
have enough memory to play both U7 and SI? Oh yeah, important fact. I have
only FOUR (4) megs of RAM. (Planning to get more but don't tell me that it's
a memory problem.)

Any help would be appreciated. Please reply via e-mail as I don't know if
I'll be able to follow the groups now since exams are coming up.

I use INT of 7. I have this CD and the SBPROII card w/ 486/40MHz.
I couldn't play this w/o a boot disk and I have 12MB of memory with 800MB
of HD space and 612K of conventional memory. The problem is this it
didn't like my HIMEM and EMM386 setup that I use for everything else.
The easy thing to do is set up a boot disk or, if using DOS 6.2 or
higher, an alternate config.sys and switch between them. Generally, it
is a config.sys memory management problem. Try either suggestion to see
if it corrects your problem. It did correct it on my setup.
