I'm stuck outside the building that contains Alagners notebook. I 
have the key but can't open the door/metal wall. Can anyone help?

Alaganer's storage building has a lot of secret doors and teleporters.
After you get the key from him, walk across the front of the building - I
*think* the metal walls may open for you.  If not, try the switches.

At one point you well get into the center, and there is an illusionary wall
that takes you into a larger room.

On the SE corner of the building on the East facing side there is an
illusionary wall.  Walk through it and then use the key.  Hint: the
levers outside work the doors inside...
