Newsgroups: comp.sys.amiga.games Subject: Ultima V *HeLp* Im stuck .. any help would b appreciated ... im told 2 go c Lord Michael and ask for the grapple .. i do .. he says i can have it .. but it doesent appear in my "ready" or "use" list ?? do i have 2 go somewhere else and get it (search for it)? Also .. how does the Lat/long work? .. i know its alphabetical ... but how exactly does it work ? ( i guessed the pattern was each ' letter has the rest of the alphabet in its " such as A'A" A'B" A'C" .. is this rite?) also .. wher is teh CODEX?!? .. or can someone atleast point me in the rite direction (to the person) who has the info? AND finally ... does the sleepwalking guy in SkaraBrae have ANYTHING 2 do with the game???? thanx in advance .. miklai:)

To use the grapple, you just type K (for climb) followed by the arrow key
indicating which direction you wish to go. It only works on mountains,
not peaks. Also, characters may lose hp's due to clumsiness.
The sleepwalker does have information. I can tell you more if you wish.
The Codex is located on the south end of the Isle of the Avatar.
Now, <my> questions:
1. How do you get to the place of eternal darkness as described in
the Codex?
2. I was hacking with the game.ool file and came across black badges.
Anyone know what this means?
3. Finally, (not important, just curious) what is the effect of
offering money to the virtues?
Oh, regarding wishing at fountains: If wishes were...

must have finished Ultima V!

The Black Badges let you walk among the guards and avoid some harrassment. I think that when I went past "... egress" I used one of those movment spells, like blink or whatever they are called, in a easterly direction. But this was a long time ago, I played U5 when it came out (88-89?)
