Wasteland is an old game from Electronic Arts. It is a role-playing
game where the setting is the area around Las Vegas. The game
centers around the adventures of Rangers trying to find out how
a nuclear war was started (they are all nuclear war survivors).

The graphics are not at the same level as Ultima 6 onwards; heck, it's
not even as good as Bards Tale III. But I like the game a lot because
it has a different type of adventure - not the usual "fight the dragon"
find the magic item kind of thing. Plus, using an AK-74 sure beats
using a sword :)

And another thing is that, while you need to do a certain sequence
of events to get an item or to receive information or advice, the
game isn't strictly linear.

I first played it on my Apple IIe but bought a used copy for the IBM
about a year ago. It is hard to find - EA stopped selling them and
you can't find them in stores anywhere except on a Commermorative
CD issued by EA.

Issued by Interplay, actually, the makers of Wasteland. EA and Interplay
parted ways quite a while back (unless I missed something).
