I've phoned Spectrum Holobyte this afternoon. The guy said the release date is
pushed back to March 25th. The reason is fixing BUGS. Thats some bugs for a
game to be pushed back 3 months (originally they said it will be out by
Christmas). Could this dethrone Strike Commander to being themost delayed
game? Or maybe it beat out SC already?

Oh... BTW... I think that the most delayed game in the history of gaming is
most probably 'MechWarrior 2' I was reading a Computer Gaming world from last
Christmas time and I remember that (although by no means[at all!!!!] a
reliable source] Chips & Bits, the mail order Software people, said that MW 2
would be in your hands before christmas time and now the game, which is not
even near the amazing technology shatterer promised when first announced, will
not be out until at least march... Oh Well...
		Sorry for getting off topic............

Well according to others with Spectrum Holybyte that March 25th release
date is a rumor and that they wanted to know who said that was the date.

Who knows who is right, but you are right about this one being delayed
over
and over again, the mags back in september said all they had to do was put
some final touches on it.

What number to SH gave you a person that said March 25th?

Well it has certainly beaten Strike Commander and Mech Warrior 2 by far!
I remember when the game was first announced in June of 1992 at CES
for an Xmas '92 release (HA!). In fact, you will see original
details of it in Strategy Plus July (I think) '92 along with
screenshots. What makes me laugh is that they are talking about
doing sequels ALREADY and getting Falcon 4 out by the end of '95!!!
I know there is things that are more vapor prone than STTNG but it sure
is a contender!

Nope.. the title for the most delayed game goes to .. Champions.
Do out in 89, the game still shows up on release schedules from time to
time. It keeps getting passed around from company to company.

Strike Commander was almost two years delayed from it's anticipated release.

Well, I phone the number that's on a SH ad on a mag. Although it could be that
someone was dicking me around. It WAS strange that it was a human (some guy, I
don't know his name, since I never pay attention to it) who first pick up the
phone instead of the familiar recorded message (the voice mail thing). I hope
I was wrong and the game comes out like, now, cuz I really want to play it.

I don't know how long Strike Commander was delayed, but I do know that
MechWarrior II was delayed for about a year and a half. I was originally
told that it would be out 10/93. Now the date is pushed back to 3/95. I
would rather have a company push back the release date instead of doing
what Sierra did with Outpost. Outpost is a good game, but it could have
been a great game had they completed it.

If you're expecting a great 3D mech game in MechWarrior II you may really be
disappointed. According to an article in Computer Gaming World month before
last they tossed the whole team and original concept out and are doing Mech
Warrior II as a 2D (maybe a forced perspective...anyone know??) game. Big
disappointment. Apparently the design team for MWII bit off more than they
could chew.

2d engine, does that mean bit mapped mechs, like Doom, System Shock, earlier
Wing Commander games?
Just curious
