Do you have another system available to trash, or another one still running
DOS?

If you do, install it first, then copy _ALL_ of the files back out of it's
DOS directory into the DOS directory on your '95 system. The "Previous
Version of MS-DOS" uses any files in your root directory with the ".DOS"
extension to boot from -- so just change your AUTOEXEC.DOS and CONFIG.DOS to
use the correct DOS directory.

A simple setup is as follows:
======
CONFIG.DOS -- (CONFIG.SYS)
======
SHELL=C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM /E:1024 /P
FILES=75
BUFFERS=40
LASTDRIVE=Z
DOS=HIGH,UMB
DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE RAM HIGHSCAN
DEVICE= <CD-ROM DRIVER> /D:CD1
DEVICE= <ANY OTHER DRIVERS NEEDED>

======
AUTOEXEC.DOS -- (AUTOEXEC.BAT)
======
SET DIRCMD=/OGNE
PATH=C:\DOS;<SOUND CARD DIR., UTILITIES, ETC.>
LH <MOUSE DRIVER>
MSCDEX /D:CD1 /L:X
SET BLASTER=<SOUND BLASTER SETTINGS>
<ANY SOUND CARD DRIVERS>
<ANY VIDEO VESA DRIVERS>

Substitute for "X" the letter you want your CD-ROM Drive to be -- I usually
like "Q" because it's out of the way of ANYTHING!

A good base for the two files is the existing AUTOEXEC.DOS and CONFIG.DOS
files because they will probably already have your CD-ROM and sound card
drivers set up in them. As long as they look _close_ to those, everything
should look fine. If you have any more trouble, E-mail me the following
files (fire...@f.imap.itd.umich.edu):

1) A copy of your CONFIG.DOS
2) A copy of your AUTOEXEC.DOS
3) A copy of memory -- type this at the dos prompt:
"mem /C > memory.txt" -- this will make a file called memory.txt with lots
of nifty information.
