Did any of the HELP(!?) you recieved worked 4 you. If so, then please let me know. I got the same problem with Dune2 then you do. I got a MMX166, 32Megs etc. it's new also. I had Dune2 before, and it was running on my Notebook, which was just a 486DX25 4MB/RAM WIN95. Yes, I hAd WIN95 running, and I know Why this worked. Here's my story: As you (and I) bought your PC. They just installed WIN95 as the main operating system. "Chicago" has it's own DOS, so this is the only one it's using. If you (like I did on my Notebook) install "Chicago" from an earlier Version of MS-DOS, WIN95 does not overwrite it, but keeps it as a secondary operating system. After installing 95, you are still able to access to your OLD DOS by interrupting the bootup of Win95 - by pressing the 'F8'-Key while it says "Booting Windows 95...." (I don't know exactly what it says, I run the german version, see?!). Then you get into the Boot-Menu. Whether you are running a network or not, it should be the 7th or 8th entry in this Bootmenu. <anyway it will be the last entry>. By selecting this you will get to your old and NORMAL dos shell. And, how refreshing, the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS are present in the Root Directory and they are the only files who control your old dos version. If you change them, you change the settings of your old dos, ok!? That's fine isn't it? It is no problem getting enough conventional ram set up, with everything on it's right place, i.e. the good old "DOS-Directory." Though this sounds very cool in the beginning, for us poor two guys, and I bet many more around the planet - MICROSCHROTT, as we like to call it in serveral places around good old germany (same as Microtrash) - does not allow, to reinstall an "older" DOS-Version afterwards (everythings OLD for Chicago, even the latest DOS, see?). I'll repeat that for the slower ones, not necessary you, ok?: ############################################################### You are allowed to install "Chicago" from any DOS version, but, forget about trying to install a dos version from "Chicago", ok? ############################################################### There must be another way! Well there is a way, flat-en your HD, and start all over again. Install a DOS version and t h e n WIN95. But who wants that. I don't. I got my PC for about 3 Weeks now, and I already got 1,3 GB of Data on my HD's. I read some of the reply's you got from your request, but somehow they'd not work for me, so I doubt they'd for you. I tried alot, but nothing brought my more then 529K of RAM. Neither the DOS Window nor the DOS-Mode. I'll post that to some help usenet groups, maybe someone knows advice, WHO HAD AND SOLVED THE *SAME* PROBLEM - "DUNE 2 - Fight for ARAKIS" Many are just playing the smartass and keep giving advices, they never tested to work - they keep posting SUGGESTIONS that mostly don't work but in increasing users frustration. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ WE ARE STUPID, WE NEED HELP!!!! NO GUESSING GAMES! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ (am I right or what?!, grin!) ;) If there's a semi genius out there, who knows how to set up 604Kb of RAM under WIN95 then please mail me: thor...@metronet.de and to ing...@lincoln.ac.nz A mail containing a working pair of autoexec and config would by just fine. Thanx in advance, take care... Bye. "I only surf on days that end on 'y'"
