In article <5rtuc6$d...@news.asu.edu>, jame...@imap1.asu.edu writes >Ah come on, don't even discuss hardware, it changes monthly (one day PCs >are faster, next Apples are). The REAL reason most of us wont buy a >Mac? SOFTWARE. Macs don't got none, sorry. That IS the fact, and you >can wine and say yes they do get games, apps, etc. But all you get is >like the top 2% in popularity software at about 1-2 years later. And >that is if the company thinks it worth their time spending money making >it for the Mac (ahem, Lucasarts lost a shit load making Dark Forces for >the Mac, "Never do that again"). So when someone tells you to get a real >computer, they're not insulting your equally impressive hardware, they're >insulting your Fisher Price version of software and an OS that smiles at >you when you boot (ugh!). Don't sidetrack the issue to hardware..... I have to agree to some degree with you. Games on the mac do suck for the reasons outlined above. However for professional use such as using photoshop and Quark Express etc., the mac does not suck. At my college we have 2 computer rooms. One full of PCs and one full of macs. In the mac room you find people doing their work. Typing, graphics and stuff like that. When you go into the PC room, you find about 8 people playing quake. I belong to both of these groups at different times. -- James Crossley Join the SSBS (Stupid signature buoycott society)
