One of the main reasons for 'sequels' is to attract buyers who have played
the original 1st Game & want more of the same or development from that
original.
Some are direct follow ups, essentially enhanced repeats. e.g. the Batman's
Others are just using the well know name as a marketing tactic & may have
little
resemblance to the original e.g. DOOM 3.
But the attraction is all based on buyers having an existing positive
attitude to the 'Name'
It occurred to me that there are many games in sequel that I don't seriously
consider
to get because I played & didn't like the original.
Assassins Creed's .
I played the 1st one. Thought it a repetitive , button mashing, weak
character Console-litus bore.
I have there fore only passing glanced at it's sequels (many I gather)
Perhaps I'm missing out on games I would in fact enjoy ?
Also with the Batman games.
I thought the 1st one had really great style in design but awful (for me)
combat & awful silly AI
& combat puzzles.
I only have to see the comment 'More of the same' in a review & I switch
away.
