Well, I installed W10 Tech Preview in VirtualBox.
VBox is not ready for W10 yet and refuses install the Additions.
Anyway W10 is the first OS that correctly autodected network settings,
joined the Homegroup, and autofilled all those 192.168..

So I tried to launch (via my network) Alpha Centauri.
System said it needed to install DirectPlay which it did after
auto finding and downloading.

And the game ran no problem.
