It seems to me almost required to play a magic-user of some sort, as you don't get one for a good portion of the beginning of the game, and even when you do, you might not care for the one you get. I abandoned my first character, a dwarf fighter because of this. I really enjoyed finding the origin of the humanoids in the dwarven mines, though it seemed more like a horror game than a fantasy rpg. It's also the best rendition of a dwarven city I've seen in an RPG. Other than those high points it's just o.k. > DA2 is a vomit. Haven't tried that one yet. - Justisaur
