Just a quick heads up - Skyrim is not exactly similar to either game you
have mentioned.  It's a single character, real time combat game as 
opposed to the customizable parties in turn base mode of BG and PoR.

By all accounts a good game nevertheless, but thought it should be 
mentioned.  If you want something closer to those two you should try 
Neverwinter Nights 2 (the Complete edition can be bought at gog.com for 
$20 and has no DRM whatsoever) or maybe Dragon Age.
