I'm sure he does. But since it looks like the Guardian is going to end up
destroyed as a result of his "fun", he really would look pretty stupid.
After all the things he's done, that would seem slightly out of character.
(Of all places, why put the Avatar in a place where he might gain that
kind of power? Any good explanation of this would be appreciated for U9.)

It will be interesting to see just what kind of power the Guardian has.
Certainly far more than you gain at the end of U8 (I hope).

I don't know how the Gargoyles came up with that -- How could they have
enshrined the "soul" of Exodus? And Mondain isn't really good, either.
All three of the Gargoyle principles were shown by someone who took them
to evil extremes (something like Blackthorn in U5). These three were
probably chosen for that reason - not because they correctly demonstrated
those principles.
Qualification to my original post: I only thought this would be interesting
if the end of the series is at hand (and I hope it isn't). It just seems
to me that it could be a more dramatic series finale than to kill a being
you really know nothing about -- not even his real name. (Assuming he has
one, of course.) There are, I'm sure, better ways to do this. I just
hope the Origin design team comes up with one of them.
