Diablo II CD crack?

First things first: I'm *not* pirating Diablo II! I'm a legal owner
of the game who plays it on a LAN by swapping the CD around. Having
said that, does anyone know how to get it running without the CD?

I don't necessarily need to get onto bnet, since it's for LAN games.
I've downloaded the "fixed exe" from Gamecopyworld. It substitutes
v1.06's 400k game.exe with a 100k file. But I still get an "Insert
Play CD" prompt when I try to start the game.

I've run a full 1.5gig installation, and patched up to v1.06 before
subbing in the cracked game.exe. Is there anything else I need to do?
Do I need to copy that music.mpq file? Do I need to change something
in the registry?

Any help much appreciated. Feel free to careen off into a discussion
of piracy under another thread. :)
