Hey, I have a couple things for you to try. Deus Ex is a good game, too, so it is well worth the trouble of getting it going. First, make sure it has indeed locked up. Deus Ex takes alot of time to load. Try looking at the drive light. During HD access, the mouse will sort of "freeze up" at times, especially on the main menu. If you have an AMD based CPU, try disabling fastwrites for your AGP port, and set the speed of the port to AGPX1, and not 2 or 4. It's very technical, but there is stuff on the net that will tell you how to do it. You can find information on this at the GeForce FAQ site (I don't have the URL, but look it up). It's a series of registry files.. This was the problem I had with Deus Ex, and once I slowed down my AGP port, by disabling fastwrites and putting it at AGPX1, the game became completely stable. It turns out, the problem was leaking over into other games too, so if you encounter any problems, look up stuff on your AGP card and port, because AMD based processors and boards don't fully emulate AGP as well as a Pentium. And lastly, try turning down some of the detail settings. Even with all the patches, the framerate is much lower than what you will get with Unreal Tournament (which, curiously enough, uses the same engine) if you have an NVidia based graphics card.
