I havn't read the official Origin reasoning behind this, but there are more
reasons than just space for releasing things only on CD. Even though a game
can be distributed on floppy's, it doesn't mean that having it on CD isn't
handy. One example for me is X-COM. I've got a bunch of games floating
around, and not enough room to install every one. However, X-COM on CD
doesn't install the whole thing to the hard drive and, since it's a
strategy game, it doesn't suffer from lag time.

In the case of Origin, I have Wing Commander I and II on CD and have only
played them off CD. Other than the lag between intro and fight sequences,
I think the game does quite well and I'm glad I don't have to install all
30 meg to my system.

Personally, I won't buy games on diskettes anymore. Even if the only thing
the CD does is install the game to my harddisk, I still prefer it since then
I can delete the game for a while, and reinstalling it is a very painless
process.
