If I recall, you could >play WC on a 286. Other than that, you're absolutely right in saying >Origin has been pushing the gameing platform to the limits. Then again, >games have always been the most computer demanding programs (aside from CAD). You forgot Windog!!! There's the culprit. The beast that drives the market. Just wait and see all the bozos who bought a new system with 4 megs, as they go running to their local Computer Store begging for SIMMs cause Chicago is too slow and/or beats the hell out of their hard drive. And I think Mr. Wing Commander III is going to be the game from Origin which will be the first game to require at least a P-60 to play worth $0.10 ... Joy ... get out your wallets folks ... As for going CD only ... well it DOES makes sense! Games are only going to get bigger (and _presumably_ better), and shipping on 86 HD 3.5's kinda sux. Besides, a 2x CD-ROM is only a couple hundred ... And it's a little more hassle to pirate a large CD-ROM game... unless you happen to have a 1/2 gig drive sitting around (in which case E-mail me for my mailing address ;) ).
