Help On Pools Of Radiance

I need help on the final battle of pools of
radiance. This is when Elminster battles the Balor
and Bane sends monsters from the pool. With
luck and good stratgy I can get past the first
wave of monsters, but can't get past Elder Orbs.
These guys cast multiple spells per round,
and are immune to spells themselves.
Suggestions without giving away game.

I have found crystal, horn and sword.
Used crystal and horn. Have no idea what sword is for.
(Not using cluebook).

Have completed "Gateway to Savage Frontier" and
"Secret of the Silver Blades".  Send me an E-mail
