Well, it's true that nothing appears to happen, but it sure makes getting
out of the Northlands a LOT easier because it kills a LOT of enemies in your
general area.  Did you notice all of the dead bodies lying around?  Did you
think that they just happened to be there?  (No insult implied, just noticed
that there were too many dead elves for natural causes.)
