Hello to all the RPG fans...

After a long stint away from gaming, I just recently got back into the PC
world and am addicted (its been less than 3 days!). Since I've lost track,
I'm wondering about what's really good for RPGs and what isn't.

I've just got Lands of Lore... IMO, its pretty nice, not exactly what I was
looking for in particular though. Ideal for an RPG to me is enough depth
(details, equipment, spells, etc.) and a good storyline, not just hack &
slash. After many years of hack & slash, I've outgrown it.

Just read through the newsgroup (about a week's worth of postings in my site
archive)... hey, add another Darklands fan to the list! This was the best
RPG I've ever played... but also the bugs meant I never did get to finish
it. Haven't seen anything else like it.

Anyhow, from what I have gathered, here is a list of probables that I'm
thinking off...

The Elder Scrolls: Arena... mixed opinions out there, I can't tell yet
if I'm going to like it or not.

Betrayal at Krondor... most everyone likes it. How's the interface &
storyline like?

Dark Sun & Dark Sun II... I need to hear some comments, I believe it uses
a newer interface than the old SSI AD&D interface (eg. Pools of Radiance).

Ultima series... the last Ultima I played was probably 5. I started out
as a BIG Ultima fan (Apple II days!), but slowly lost interest as it
developed. If they have changed the interface significantly, maybe to
a better storyline & less hack & slash, then I'm gonna check it out.

Also open for other suggestions. Let me know what's hot... I'm itchy!

Adrian Chew :-)
