Well, one week from today Im going to fufill an ambition of mine for many
a year and got to the Summer CES in Chicago. I was wondering if any of you
had some advive about what looks to be a sprawling mess barely contained
by McCormick Place. I plan to arrive in Chicago via train at about 9:30
and was wondering when the show closes (nothing I have seen says this) to
know if I should hop on the 4:30 or 7:00 train back. ANY advice is
appreciated :)

Yeah, did you get a dealers pass to get in? Anyway, once you get in there's
not much to say except that you'll probably spend two days at the least
wandering around and getting your feet to hurt real bad. Just find out
where all the software people are and head there. It's a real blast at
first. If it's set up like the way it was when I went the whole space
(it is f'n huge!) will look like a city with a Sega 'castle' and then
a Nintento 'castle' and lots of lesser buildings under the big roof. They
separate all the DOS game companies from the game console places. I think
the funniest thing is seeing all the suits lining up to play games.
Market research, right? :) I think all the sales reps and presenters go
here when they're off duty. I think you'll definitely have to hop on
the 7pm train back. If you don't have a badge to get in I'm not sure
how you can get one. The year I went they weren't allowing non-industry
visitors. But if you do get in I'd say you could fit all the game stuff
in five or six hours.

Wear comfortable shoes
Stay more then one day...there is a lot to see
Wear comfortable shoes
Get your badge holder at the airport or the day before at the registration site
when the lines are short. If you have to get your badge at the show plan on a
45 minutes to 1.245 hour line.
Wear comfortable shoes
Don't go on public day (Sunday)
Wear comfortable shoes

Enjoy the show!

The show's hours on Sunday, the consumer day, are 9-6pm. The earlier
you arrive, the better. I went on the last day of the show last year,
and the bulk of the crowd arrived around noon; with only one consumer
day this year it's really going to be packed. If the show is set up
as last year, the majority of the computer industry exhibits will
be in the Annex building, which is the western wing of McCormick
place. If you really want to be sure to see as much as possible, stay
as long as possible, or you'll really be pushing yourself. Have a good
time!!
