SimGolf Question

I just installed the old Sid Meier's SimGolf game, and have got a
question:

How do you get your golfer's stats up quickly?

I've found an end-run technique on several sites, where you start a new
game, load an old golfer, make then play a hole, save the golfer. This
is supposed to give him the 10 points each time you do it. Voila, after
a bit, everything's 100%.
The bad part is, it doesn't seem to work. I've tried it on version 1.0,
and version 1.02 (which is the last version that has a nocd version that
I've found.) I do the steps: I start a new game, load an old golfer,
make a hole, play the hole.
It give you the points the first time, but all of them are back to 0%
whenever I reload someone I've played a hole with and saved.

Am I doing the steps in the right order, or missing one?

I've also tried the other cheats on some sites:
ctrl-s then bombsheep (but haven't heard what this does, and it doesn't
do anything immediately when I do it)
ctrl-shift-alt follwed by several keywords (e.g. Tigerwoodsrules is
supposed to give you 990% skills), but none of them seem to do anything.

The only one that does work is the '+' cheat, but that also marks your
money, and it's not really necessary on the easy skill level.

Thanks for the help!
