I was FTPing hints and stuff from ftp.uwp.edu (romulus directory) and
came across some files with a .unp extention. I've never heard of any
MSDOS archive system that uses this suffix, so I assume it's UNIX, or
some such. I tried UNCOMPRESS and UNPACK to no avail.

Help, anyone?

Prospective thank-yous...

Every now and then, someone asks this, so I thought I'd followup here.
The .unp extension just denotes that the file is an unprotect. It's
just a text file.

.unp stands for unprotect. These files are text files describing how
to remove the copy protection from a game. They are intended for
personal use only, not so that you can go around nicking everyone
else's software. Eg: I took the protection off my copy of Ultima V
with the instructions from one of those files, but I don't use it to
go giving said game away to friends.

When used for personal use *only*, they are not illegal, as far as I
can tell.

It's just a normal text file.
