Well I see finally that the group split has occured. The thread on Laser
Chess brought back a few memories. I used to have that magazine, in
addition to 36 others of Compute. I stopped getting them (on a subscription
basis) when they no longer printed out programs. Sigh. Does anyone else
know of any magazines similar to compute, with type-in able source codes?

This reminds me of a question someone asked Richard Garriott at a
con last year. They asked if Origin would be putting out more one-shot
games such as Moebius, and he said no. The days of the freelancer in
gaming are over. Games are too complex. I think that this applies to
printout publishing, too. The games are too long, and the space a printed
code version would take is too valuable to the publisher. The days of
simplicity in computer games are over. Witness: Strike Commander.
