Is MULE available for the PC?

I have put my old C128 back in business, just to play this
excellent game. Must be one of the best games ever made...

Hey! I had lots of games for my 128, but when I went off to college I
got rid of them. MULE was one of the better ones...I hoep someone knows where
it can be found. I also like Archon quite a bit, but the PC version of it is
nowhere near as good. Wonder what happened along the way....

Thanks to whoever spends time trying to figure this one out!

I went looking for this one last year... here's what I "found".

There was a PC port of MULE, possibly available through an old IBM
software catalog. Only done for CGA graphics (I wonder whether they
used cyan/magenta or brownish/green?). Said to be a very poor port by
one person who claimed to have been involved with the porting attempt.
No one admitted to actually having it. It doesn't appear to be
avaialble these days (where "these days" are any days after 1987 or so).

There is/was a Nintendo version. I have that, and rented a Nintendo
machine from the local video store when I wanted to play. It's "okay",
but real disappointing if you've played it on an Atari or C64. Nintendo
has better sound, slightly better graphics where it *doesn't* matter, and
much worse motion --- auction sales don't speed up when you sell large
quantities, for example; if you lose a mule it doesn't gallop off, it just
vanishes; in auctions the characters "jump" when they move because the
nintendo doesn't do things right (no sprites maybe?). I think Nintendo
bought the rights to MULE because they were looking for 4-player games
--- but to do 4-player you have to have the non-standard controllers.

You can still find Atari 400/800s and software, but it's getting harder
and harder. I have one (now), and a program that lets me make backups
of my precious MULE disk. I liked the Atari version slightly better
than the C64 version, but either is okay. Used Ataris are cheaper than
used C64s.

Sure wish MULE ran right on a PC.... but on the other hand the Atari can
live under the tv and I can lean back while I play. I have to sit
upright for the PC games, with piles of work frowning down at me from
all sides.  :{  :}

I have a copy of the game, but no docs for it. Does anyone know who I can get
a hold of to get docs.(Like, what is EA's address/phone) I can play the game.
but there are some things I forgot.(like what all the little options are)
Well, time for some more trial and error....

I too have the game. It is CGA with PC speaker sound (sucks bad compared
to my ol' C=64's SID chip). The game play is ok, but difficult to handle.
I have a 386-33, and even stepping the speed down to 8MHz doesn't help; it's
just too fast (how many times have you heard that lately?). If EA ever does
a port, I'll be a happy man!

Cheers,
Cedrico.
