Your right but let's face it RIVA is a great 2D engine also. People
always focus on the 3D but I sure spend more time using 2D vs 3D. It's a
great 2D engine and you have great 3D when you need it.
Viper330 AGP is $168 by me and the V128 is $199 at CompUSA. So $300 is a
bit extreme. Riva is not as good as 3Dfx in quake etc. but God forbid
you want to play something in a window with a Monster Orchid or whatever
you have. You'll be screwed BIG TIME. Riva has both in and out of a
window vs. the best when not in a window, and nothing while in. Why buy
a card for $150 PLUS a 2D card and have no 3D support in a window.
Riva will be supproted. 2-3 years? I don't think so and in 2-3 years who
cares people will think of 3Dfx as dinos then.
