I got Crayola 2.0 and it was consistently issuing 3 problems:
1. Report from Root saying "This program has performed
an illegal operation and will be shut down"
2. The Root.Exe has caused a problem and opens a DOS
windows
3. It reports the CD-ROM as not available. Cancel/Retry
error situation
Due to this problem and due to the fact that I had too extras DLL I
formatted and installed the Win95 again.
Later local distributor changed the media and when the new CD arrived
the errors changed from Root.Exe to the As2addon.Exe program. Besides
the Illegal function calls come up more often than before.
After that I contacted Micrografx's Support that asked to download a
new patch on their Web page and that it should resolve the problems.
I did and now the Illegal function calls come up more often than
before.
I already have other games as Harry and the Haunted House and Little
Monster at School from Living Books that work fine. Besides I
subscribe to Microsoft Developer Network and receive quarterly CD
without problems. I also use Grolier Encyclopedia, Win 95 CD, Office
95, Dictionaries, Street Finders, Windows NT CD and all work normal.
The Crayola is the only one that is giving a hard time and I am really
puzzled by the errors issued from this disk.
To test things out I went to a friend's computer with a similar
configuration but 12M in spite of 16 I have and installed it.
Everything worked beautifully and faster than in my machine.
This friend never actually updated his Win95 with the updates
available at the Microsoft's Win95 site. I did them all.
Keeping with the tests I borrowed from friends some 8 CDs and
installed/uninstalled all of them in my machine. Not even one came up
with flaws. There is a possibility that the Crayola CD is corrupted?
Or my CD Panasonic Matsuhita CR-562 double speed drive with 32bits
drivers installed from Win95 and not from Autoexec/Config is too
sensible?
Is there any news about the new Kernel available for download at the
Microsoft site as being causing troubles to some softwares?
Another difference between my friend's machine and mine is that I have
a USRobotics Sportser Winmodem 28.8 updated to 33.6 while he doesn't.
This modem has the code memory sitting on the drive instead of on the
modem board. Could it be interfering with some instructions from
Crayola? Can be a bug in the software, where two applications (or
drivers) try to use the same part of memory?

Is there anyone with similar problem? Is there any hope,
suggestions, solution for this well designed game?
Thanks for any help
