Re: this mouses/mice thingy: Would seem that a lot of computer-related terminology that is 'created' to refer to new technologies (whether it is based on a word already in existence or not), tends to break the conventions (not rules BTW....) eg. disk (from diskette) not disc program not programme etc. perhaps it is to do with the fact that they all seem to originate in the US where they seem keen on spelling words more phonetically than British 'english'. Theres no reason why mouses (of the computer kind) should be incorrect just because mice is the plural for the rodent kind. Personally, I think computer terminology has a 'right' (not the best word, but the best I can think of at the moment) to make its own conventions as they are referring to new concepts. The fact that some come from 'traditional' words or terms does not mean they have to follow the conventions that go with them, as they are based on the traditional terms and not identical to them as they refer to different things. And as the convention for computers is mouses (and has been for years), I think thats the convention we should follow. Indeed to call them computer 'mice' would be as grammatically incorrect as calling the rodents 'mouses'. Phil.
