Help!!! 1.4 M 3.5 disks to 1.2 5.25"

Okay, here's the problem:
I just got the game Ultima 7, in 3.5 form. I have a 5.25 disk drive, and
that's it. I don't have a disk exchange card in the box, but I do have the
reg card, so all's well there. However, I don't really want to mail in an
exchange request if I can simply copy the disks via a campus computer onto
5.25 format. One major problem is that there's one file (I've already tried
installing it to a campus PC to see if that would help--it doesn't--I did
erased it at that point from the HD) that's 6 Megs in uncompressed form.

I seem to recall one way to format 5.25 disks to 1.44 format w/o bad
sectors, but I'm not sure how to do that. (I have DOS 5.0) If that's all it
takes, just let me know. I would think that would work. Also, would PKZip
compress a 6 meg file down under 1.2? (and how does one maximally compress
a file to do this?) However, if there's any other ideas, please help. I
assume Origin would convert the disks if I have the reg card, but I can't
be certain...
