[Sorry for the cross-posting, but I didn't know which newsgroup was
most appropriate, and I'm rather desperate for a solution.]

I bought Pirates Gold last week and can't get it to work!  Every time I
try to run it, I get an "ILLEGAL ADDRESS HAS CAUSED A PAGE FAULT"
error message, followed by gobbledy-gook like "absolute address," "error
code," "DGROUP relative address" etc.

To clarify: when I first installed Pirates Gold, I was running DR DOS
6.  It gave me the "ILLEGAL ADDRESS HAS CAUSED A PAGE FAULT" error in
the background and told me it couldn't work with my memory manager.
However, I figured I'd reconfigure it later, and continued with the
install.  But, after trying multiple configurations (including a
floppy boot disk), it kept crashing with the same error message (although
not with the same gobbledy-gook).

I figured maybe it didn't like DR DOS and installed MS DOS 6 instead.
However, yet again it gives the same error, even with different
configurations.  I played Pirates Gold on my friend's machine, so the
disks should be good.

I have no idea what's wrong.  What's the error mean?  What can I do to
fix it?  Help meeee!  Many thanks in advance for any help anyone can
give me.
