I'm getting 'error 20: Sound Buffer failure' in
The 7th Guest. That is error 20 and not 02. I've
seen some other posts about error 02. I was running
with no errors, but I had choppy speech due to my
CD-ROM drive only having a 8K buffer. I upgraded to
a 64K buffer and now the animation and speech are
OK, but I get aborted with error 20 sometimes just
after an animation sequence is finished. I think
something IS happening to the sound buffer and a
check is done between sequences to see if the
buffer was corrupted. Sometimes the sound quits
in the middle of the sequence. I'm running a
486-25Mhz, SoundBlasterPro1, 150K/sec(64K buffer)
CD-ROM drive, Orichid Prodesigner II(100% on the
benchmark) video card. I have /m:20 on the
MSCDEX line. D=256 on my EMM386 line, and NOEMS
on my HIMEM.SYS line. I do notice the background
music slows down while the animations of moving
through the house are played.
